Summary
The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills so they can engage, facilitate, educate and support clients in a gym or health club environment. By completing this qualification, learners will meet industry requirements to become a Gym Instructor.
To achieve the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Gym Fitness, learners need to achieve 6 mandatory units;
- Anatomy and Physiology for exercise
- Maximising the customer experience in a gym environment
- Supporting client health and well-being
- Conducting client consultations and gym inductions
- Planning and reviewing gym-based exercise programmes
- Instructing and supervising gym-based exercise programmes

Entry Requirements
Learners must be aged 19 plus. Ideally they should have some experience of gym-based exercises as participation in a variety of gym-based practical sessions will be required throughout the qualification. Learners should also have communication skills pitched at level 2 which can be developed during the course. Learners will be required to commit to self-directed study in order to achieve this qualification.
Applicants will be required to have an interview with the course leader before enrolment.
Assessment
A range of assessments will be conducted on this course. Learners will be required to do one exam (multiple choice test), multiple online assessments, a portfolio of evidence and three practical observations.
Progression
This Level 2 qualification can lead to employment as a gym instructor. This qualification can also lead to further training at the same or higher levels including: level 2 award in group exercise instructing and Level 3 diploma in personal training.
Fees
Fees: Depending on your individual circumstances the course fee is part funded at £548.10 + £69 registration fee. However depending on your age, employment status and any previous qualifications the course may be free or will be full cost. Please contact us for clarification.
