What You Will Study

Our ESOL courses help adults improve their English for everyday life, work, study and living in the UK.

You will develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well as your grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Lessons are designed to help you communicate with confidence in real-life situations.

Topics may include:

  • Everyday life in the UK
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Work and careers
  • Family and community life
  • Technology and digital skills
  • Current events and culture

We offer courses from Entry Level 1 to Level 1, and you will be placed in the level that best matches your current skills.

You will learn in a welcoming and supportive environment, alongside other adult learners from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

Our experienced teachers will help you achieve your goals, whether you want to improve your confidence, support your family, progress to further study or develop your career opportunities.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal qualifications required to join this course.

This course is for adults aged 19 and over, whose first language is not English and who would like to improve their English skills.

Before enrolling, you will attend an interview and complete an English assessment. This helps us identify the most suitable level for you and will ensure you receive the support you need.

How You Will Be Assessed

You will work towards a nationally recognised ESOL qualification.

Your progress will be reviewed regularly through class activities, coursework and assessments. When you are ready, you will complete formal assessments and examinations in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Some learners may be able to progress to the next ESOL level within the same academic year.
