What You Will Study

Using our excellent facilities and equipment, you will explore, develop and test your creativity in this stimulating and demanding course. The projects that you work on will include music video production, advertisement, cross media campaign, television studio production, podcast production, contextual studies, documentary film making and short film production.

The University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 3 Creative Media Production and Technology Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels and is a two-year course.

During the course, you will have the opportunity to engage in a range of excellent enrichment activities. Previous activities have included talks from industry practitioners and experts, trips to industry conferences and events, cinema screenings and residential trips to places such as New York City, Paris and London.

As a partner organisation with Creative England’s Filming in England Partnership, our students benefit from stronger links between education and the screen industries. This partnership gives our students access to industry insight, professional talks, sector updates, networking opportunities and the chance to register on a national crew directory for potential work opportunities in film and television production. It also helps ensure our curriculum remains connected to current industry practice and emerging opportunities in the creative sector. 

Entry Requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including GCSE English language.

How You Will Be Assessed

This course is assessed through a series of projects that are designed to broaden your skills, experience and expertise. The projects are multi-disciplinary and require you to work collaboratively and pro-actively with fellow students, as well as external clients and stakeholders.

A final end-point assessment (commonly referred to as the final major project) decides your overall grade for the year, which is graded at a Pass/Merit or Distinction.

The first year is allocated the following UCAS points:

  • Pass: 36
  • Merit: 60
  • Distinction: 84

The Extended Diploma is allocated the following UCAS points:

  • Pass: 72
  • Merit: 120
  • Distinction: 168

Your work will be assessed and by external verifiers from the University of the Arts London, to ensure that academic standards are adhered maintained.

Course Progression

You may progress into higher education study on a variety of degree courses, such as film and moving image, TV production, journalism, events management and social media marketing.

You may also consider our Level 4 Media Learning Company course. This would be suitable if you wanted an extra year at college to prepare for university-level study, or this course can support your progression into the creative industry.

Where Your Course Can Take You

Throughout the course, you have the opportunity to develop a range of media production skills that will encourage you to explore potential career paths within media production and the wider creative industry.

Some recent alumni have gone on to work in the film and TV industry on large productions like Barbie, Silo, Star Wars Andor, Star Wars Mandalorian, Cruella, The Little Mermaid, Indiana Jones, Love Island, Ant and Dec's Saturday Takeaway and much more!

Fees
