What You Will Study
If you are keen to build confidence and develop your media skills in a supportive environment, then this is the course for you. This is a practical, hands-on course that will develop your skills of media production, collaborative team working, research and communication skills. The course models industry practice with assignments designed to provide outstanding experiences of real work. In addition to your main programme you will study English and maths - depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSE.

As a partner organisation with Creative England’s Filming in England Partnership, our students benefit from stronger links between education and the screen industries. This partnership gives our students access to industry insight, professional talks, sector updates, networking opportunities and the chance to register on a national crew directory for potential work opportunities in film and television production. It also helps ensure our curriculum remains connected to current industry practice and emerging opportunities in the creative sector.
Entry Requirements
- Three GCSEs at grade 2 or above, including English language and maths.
How You Will Be Assessed
This course is assessed through a series of projects that are designed to broaden your skills, experience and expertise. The projects are multi-disciplinary and require you to work collaboratively and pro-actively with fellow students as well as external clients and stakeholders. A final end-point assessment (commonly referred to as the final major project) decides your overall grade for the year, which is graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Course Progression
Upon successful completion of this course, along with achieving GCSE English language and maths to grade 3, may allow you to progress onto Creative Media Level 2.
You may also apply for alternative Level 2 courses within the department that may better suit your career aims, such as: Art and Design, Music, Dance, Games Design and Production Arts.

This promotes the recruitment of talented, creative students from high-quality further education institutions to UAL degree-level courses. The course team also work with local and national higher education providers such as NUA, London College of Communication and Central St Martins to ensure that you are ready for your next step.
City College Norwich have an outstanding Apprenticeship Team who can provide advice and guidance for students wishing to follow an Apprenticeship route into the industry.
For those students who choose not to pursue careers within the creative industries, the course provides fantastic opportunities to develop collaborative working skills, problem-solving, and creative and evaluative skills demanded by universities and employers.
Fees
