Summary

This is a course that takes students from the age of 16 - 18 and prepares them for the industry recognised level 2 qualification from City and Guilds. it is suitable for those who wish to gain a good foundation of knowledge of the plumbing industry.
Units may include: Structure of the construction industry, fundamental safe working practices, environment and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings, site preparation for working in the Construction industry, above ground drainage, copper pipework, plastic pressure pipework, low carbon steel pipework, installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems and plumbing science.

Entry Requirements

Achieve 2 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including Maths & English. Demonstrate commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to succeed on the course. Successfully complete a pre-interview task which will be discussed at an informal interview. Provide a reference.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out in college by the plumbing team, where you will be required to meet both industry standards and the criteria of the qualification set by the awarding body. There are similar requirements for the theoretical work required for this course.

Progression

On successful completion of this course with a good attendance and behaviour record and reference from the course leader students can progress onto the level 2 qualification in Plumbing Installations.

Career Progression

Students who complete the level 1 programme can move if successful onto an apprenticeship programme or onto the level 2 Plumbing diploma.

Fees

If you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 years and over please contact the Advice Shop In addition to this there will be costs for Uniform of steel toe capped boots, trousers and logo shirt. Approximate costs £40.
