What You Will Study
This course is a progression route from the Carpentry and Joinery Diploma Level 1.
You will study three core units, alongside other trade specific units. The core units include:
- Safe working practices
- Information, quantities and communication with others
- Construction technology
The specialist site carpentry units you will cover include:
- First fixing operations
- Second fixing
- Erecting structural carcassing
- Carrying out maintenance
- Setting up and operating a circular saw.

Entry Requirements
- Successful completion of the Carpentry and Joinery Diploma Level 1, with a good attendance and behaviour record and reference from the course leader. This is a progression course only.
How You Will Be Assessed
You will be assessed through a range of methods including online theory tests , multiple choice paper tests and practical assessments.
Course Progression
On successful completion of this course, you could consider moving onto a carpentry and joinery Apprenticeship to start work in industry.
Where Your Course Can Take You
Many of our students move into employment and gain further qualifications on an Apprenticeship scheme.
Fees
If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over please contact the Advice Shop. You will need to provide their own overalls, protective footwear and stationary.
