Beauty Therapy Level 2

Entry Requirements

• Achieve four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language, maths and preferably science.

How You Will Be Assessed

Competency is assessed via practical assessments and each unit has an online theory exam. Please note that personal appearance is an extremely important part of this course as we follow the awarding body guidelines and are preparing students for a very demanding industry .

You will be required to wear full uniform for all practical lessons, with make-up and hair secured, and short, unvarnished nails. Only studs earrings are to be worn, no hoops. Nail extensions are not allowed. We also advise students that visible tattoos will restrict your job opportunities in the beauty industry.

Course Progression

On successful completion of the course you could progress onto Level 3 Beauty Therapy or other related subjects including Hairdressing or Make-up Artistry. Alternatively you could find an Apprenticeship. Future options at City College Norwich also include Level 4 qualifications in Advanced Techniques and Management in Hair and Beauty Therapy or Make-up Artistry.

Where Your Course Can Take You

The hair and beauty industry is a vibrant, dynamic and creative sector offering fantastic employment and training opportunities. This sector alone employs nearly a quarter of a million people and is worth over £6 billion to the UK economy.

There are a wide variety of jobs for qualified beauty therapists, including salon and spa work both in the UK and abroad. Beauty therapists also work in hotels, on cruise liners, in hospitals and health clubs. With further experience, you could also become a salon owner or follow a career in photography and fashion, teaching and training or work for manufacturers of beauty products as a technical advisor.

Fees

September 2026, Full Time, Day

For UK students aged under 19 years old on the 31st August prior to the start of your course, your tuition fees are free. In addition to this there will be costs for equipment, uniform and trips. Financial support could be available depending on your circumstances.

Materials Costs TBC annually.
Beauty kit and uniform (£150)
Salon shoes – black flat enclosed shoes (trainer style is fine) will ned to be purchased from any shop.
The above materials are essential to you starting the course and must be ordered without delay. Ordering forms will be provided for you at enrolment in August; these should be ordered through our approved stockists to ensure good quality.
