What You Will Study

This one-year vocational Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up (BTEC Performing and Production Arts Industry Skills) course will provide you with a comprehensive foundation for a career in make-up artistry.

You will learn skills for performing arts, film, TV, and fashion.

The course covers a range of techniques including:

Entry Requirements

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English language.

How You Will Be Assessed

There are a variety of learning modules which will be internally assessed through practical skills and written projects. These will be graded as Pass, Merit and Distinction.

These units will help to develop your production skills and techniques, how to respond to production requirements and purpose and how to contribute to a production.

Course Progression

On completion of this Level 2 course, you could progress onto the Level 3 Hair and Media Make-up course (BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Production Arts Practice).

Where Your Course Can Take You

This qualification could lead to various roles in the entertainment industry, including Make-up Artist, Make-up Designer, Hair and Make-up Artist, Special Effects Make-up Artist or Freelance Make-up Artist.

If you will be under 19 years old on the 31st August which falls prior to the start of your course, your registration and tuition fees will be funded by the Government. Chef’s whites, knives and food service uniform (costing approximately £205) will need to be self-funded. Financial support may be available - depending on personal circumstances.
