Continuation of Mindful Employer status

7th October 2026 – Tags: Staff

The college’s Mindful Employer status has been extended for a further 2 years in recognition of our continuing work, and further plans, to support the mental health of our employees.

The college’s wide range of support for employee mental health, includes:

  • Having 24 trained Mental Health First Aiders
  • Staff welfare spaces at each of our sites, providing a quiet, calm and welcoming space to recharge
  • Employee Assistance Scheme with a 24-hour mental health helpline, up to 6 free sessions of counselling and a 24-hour GP line
  • Occupational health support and advice
  • Regular online and face-to-face training for employees and managers on topics relating to supporting mental health in the workplace.

Wellbeing Action Plans encourage conversations between employees and their manager around their mental health and wellbeing at work.

This ongoing work, and our plans to develop mental health support further, has seen the college granted Mindful Employer status for a further 2 years (through to 2028).

Established in 2004, Mindful Employer is a UK wide initiative run by Devon Partnership NHS Trust. Providing employers with easier access to professional Workplace Mental Health training, information and support, the initiative aims to help empower employers to take a lead in supporting the mental wellbeing of their staff.

By signing the ‘Charter for Employer Positive About Mental Health’, City College Norwich has made a public statement of our desire to support the mental health of our staff across the organisation.
