What You Will Study
The Certificate in Digital and IT Skills is a part-time course for students aged 19 and over, and it runs for 36 weeks starting once a year in September. It is designed for adults who want to develop and extend their digital skills to prepare for employment in a number of industries, including the digital and creative industries.
The qualification gives you an opportunity to develop an understanding of the importance of Digital Skills in the workplace, and the actual skills and characteristics desired by an employer. You will also study for a number of digital units, including one mandatory course, Digital Careers Progression, and three to four other units, such as: Emerging Technologies, Presentation Software, Word Processing Software and Photo Editing Software.
It is a daytime course with one three-hour lesson each week, held in-person at our Ipswich Road campus, with additional home study required.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, but a reasonable knowledge of IT skills is expected. An initial assessment will be undertaken to determine suitability.
If you feel that you are not ready for this course but want to take it in the future, we would recommend that you look to complete Digital Functional Skills at Level 1 as a stepping stone to prepare for this course if your Digital skills require improvement. These are 16 weeks long.
How You Will Be Assessed
Assessment is based-on a portfolio of evidence.
Course Progression
Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress onto higher digital and IT qualifications.
