What You Will Study

The Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts is a broad and dynamic course designed to develop your skills in acting, dance and musical theatre, while providing the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to progress to Level 3 study or employment within the performing arts industry.

Throughout the year, you will collaborate with fellow students to form a professional company. As part of this company, you will explore a wide range of multi-disciplinary performance techniques and work towards creating performances to a professional standard.

You will gain practical and theoretical experience across the performance profession, including acting, musicality and dancing, as well as an introduction to production skills such as prop and costume organisation and marketing. The course encourages a collaborative approach, with opportunities to devise and perform original work, contribute creatively to rehearsals, and take part in both guided and self-directed projects.

Students will take part in public performances throughout the year in our 160-seat Platform Theatre. You will develop key professional skills such as learning lines, rehearsing effectively, researching roles, and working closely with directors and fellow performers to shape interpretation and delivery.

You will also have opportunities to collaborate with students from other creative industries courses to produce high-quality, industry-relevant projects. You will work in industry-standard facilities, including a full-sized theatre and rehearsal studios.

A high level of enthusiasm and commitment is essential, as you will be expected to attend rehearsals and performances, some of which may take place in the evening. If required, you will also continue to develop your core skills through English and maths GCSE resits.
