What You Will Study
Our Step into Creative Media, Business and IT course is a great option for those who don't have formal qualifications or haven't followed a traditional educational path.
This course combines a basic introduction to three subjects within the area of media, business and digital industries. It is a practical, hands-on qualification that will develop your business, digital, media, communication, team working and research skills. Each qualification has different units and projects that will be worked through throughout the course and covers a range of topics such as filmmaking, games design and development, cybersecurity, communication in the workplace, career planning, and interview skills.
You will also acquire practical skills to enhance your performance in the workplace. You will gain insights into the workings of the media, business, and IT sectors, equipping you with an essential skill set to support you in these industries. As a result, you will be well-prepared to enter the workplace with valuable skills tailored to the demands of entry-level positions in media, business, digital industries and IT.
You will work towards three Entry Level 3 gateway qualifications certificates in one academic year. These will include essential digital skills, vocational studies and employability skills.

Entry Requirements
Our Step Into courses are a great option for those who don't have formal qualifications or haven't followed a traditional educational path. You don't need any specific qualifications to apply, and applications are based on an informal discussion at interview. This course is ideal for students with barriers to learning due to the nurturing learning environment to help eliminate and support those barriers.
How You Will Be Assessed
You will mostly be assessed through coursework, with the exception of the essential digital skills qualification which is assessed through an online assessment. You will also sit exams if you are taking English or maths alongside your course.
You will be awarded a pass or a referral grade on each unit/project. You will need to pass all units in order to achieve the qualification. Some units/projects will have set deadlines and there will be sufficient time to complete all the work in class, although some projects may require work to be completed outside the classroom such as filming.
Course Progression
A pass on this course as well as a good reference from your course leader will support you to progress onto a Level 1 course at college. Most students progress to our Business Level 1, Digital Level 1 or Creative Media Level 1 courses.
Where Your Course Can Take You
This course will help you build skills that are in demand for entry-level jobs in media, IT, and business, or could support you to progress onto an Apprenticeship.
Fees
If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over fees may be payable.
