This website is run by City College Norwich. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

City College Norwich is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Some PDF documents are not fully accessible due to missing titles (WCAG 2.4.2), missing language definitions (WCAG 3.1.1), tables that do not have proper relationships (WCAG 1.3.1) and incorrectly or unlabelled non-text content (WCAG 1.1.1). We are in the process of removing old documents and updating those that are still in use, we are aiming to have this done by December 2024.

The chat widget is hard to access using the keyboard (WCAG 2.1.1) and has nested interactive controls controls (WCAG 4.1.2). This is a third-party widget and we are unable to improve these issues, so will look to move to a different provider by December 2024.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We have recently updated our website to improve overall accessibility including:

  • Making it accessible and clear when using a keyboard to navigate
  • Fixing issues with low colour contrast
  • Preventing content being obscured when the page is zoomed over 200%

Our ongoing commitments include updated PDFs to make them more accessible and looking to move to a new chat provider.

How we tested this website

This statement was prepared on 18 September 2019. It was last reviewed on 4 April 2024.

This website was last tested on 14 March 2023. The test was carried out by Government Digital Services.

The checks used a mixture of simple manual checks and automated tests to find only the most common barriers to users with accessibility needs. Manual checks included using each page without a mouse, viewing the page at different zoom settings, and simulating viewing the page on a small screen. The automated tests were completed using the latest version of Axe. Tests were completed using different settings in the Google Chrome browser on Mac OSX with a 13 inch screen.

The checks were applied to six website pages that gave a fair representation of the website:
