What You Will Study
This course runs across 33 weeks over three terms and takes place part-tine in the evenings.
It is perfect for the learner looking to:

- Launch your own catering business
- Find employment in a cafe, bistro, pub
- Cook for private clients
- Cook in a school or care home
No previous experience is required, you just need to have a keen interest and desire to prepare, cook and serve good food.
During the course you will learn:
- Essential skills for a lifetime of confident cooking, using classic and modern techniques, (see skills objectives)
- An introduction to kitchen techniques, and different cooking styles
- Kitchen time planning and menu planning
- Basic food hygiene and safety
- Allergen awareness
- Knife skills
During the course you will cook:
- Comforting classics
- Modern and traditional dishes
- A variety of international dishes.
- With imagination, passion and enjoyment
You will be asked to bring in some of the ingredients each week.
You will attend college one evening a week, from 6pm to 9pm.
Entry Requirements
You need a commitment to learning and interest in the subject area.
Course Progression
There is no formal progression, however you could consider the Culinary Skills City College Norwich School Advance Diploma.
