What You Will Study
This course is a 33 week, three term part time evening course.
It is perfect for the learner looking to:
- Change career
- Broaden your range of recipes
- Launch your own catering business
- Find employment in a cafe, bistro or pub
- Cook for private clients
- Cook in a school or care home
No previous experience is required, but you must have a keen interest and desire to prepare, cook and serve good food.
During the 33 week course, you will:
Learn
- Essential skills for a lifetime of confident cooking, using classic and modern techniques
- An introduction to kitchen techniques, and different cooking styles
- Kitchen time planning
- Menu planning
- Basic food hygiene and safety
- Allergen awareness
- Knife skills
Cook
- Comforting classics
- Modern and traditional dishes
- A variety of international dishes
- With imagination, passion and enjoyment
You will be asked to bring in some of the ingredients each week.
It is a one year course where you will attend college one evening a week. The evening is yet to be decided but will be Monday to Thursday from 6pm to 9pm.

You need to have a commitment to learning and interest in the subject area.
