What You Will Study

This course runs across 33 weeks over three terms and takes place part-tine in the evenings.

It is perfect for the learner looking to:

No previous experience is required, you just need to have a keen interest and desire to prepare, cook and serve good food.

During the course you will learn:

  • Essential skills for a lifetime of confident cooking, using classic and modern techniques, (see skills objectives)
  • An introduction to kitchen techniques, and different cooking styles
  • Kitchen time planning and menu planning
  • Basic food hygiene and safety
  • Allergen awareness
  • Knife skills

During the course you will cook:

  • Comforting classics
  • Modern and traditional dishes
  • A variety of international dishes.
  • With imagination, passion and enjoyment

You will be asked to bring in some of the ingredients each week.

You will attend college one evening a week, from 6pm to 9pm.

You need a commitment to learning and interest in the subject area.

There is no formal progression, however you could consider the Culinary Skills City College Norwich School Advance Diploma.
