What You Will Study

This beginner cake decorating course is perfect for anyone looking to develop their creative skills while learning professional decorating techniques in a fun, supportive environment. You’ll learn how to design and decorate celebration cakes, work from client ideas and briefs, and build confidence in your own decorating style.

Across six weeks, the course builds skills step by step. You’ll begin with introductions and the foundations of perfect buttercream, before moving on to food colouring, colour palettes, and taking designs from sketch to cake. You’ll then explore piping techniques using different nozzles, followed by creative finishes such as painted cakes, palette knife work, and decorative textures. Later sessions focus on working to a client brief and bringing everything together in a final creative project.

Classes run on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm, making this course ideal for fitting around work or other commitments.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a strong foundation in cake decorating, the confidence to take on more ambitious designs, and the opportunity to connect with others who share your passion for cake decorating.
