What You Will Study

This course is for anyone who would like to practice their drawing skills. Do you often tell people "I can't draw"? This course will enable you to say "I can draw!" Have you not had the opportunity to sit and enjoy drawing since you were in education? This is chance to re-engage with an old hobby.

In this five-week course we will begin with the basics of drawing. You will practice with a wide variety of drawing mediums and techniques. You will also develop your skills drawing from first hand observation.

You will be encouraged to experiment with different media, including pencils charcoal, pastel and inks. Observational drawing is key to the course as we draw from real life to develop our skills in shape, proportions, tone, line, colour and mark-making.

Week 1 – Drawing basics - materials, line shape and shading
Week 2 – Perspective and drawing from observation
Week 3 – Scale
Week 4 – Hands and faces
Week 5 – Still life/using colour

This course will run on Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm.
