Summary

The travel industry is a fast paced industry which offers a variety of career opportunities both in the UK and abroad. This two year course provides an excellent grounding in the skills and knowledge required for a career in this industry. We have many links with local and national companies in the travel industry who are there to support our students and share their industry knowledge.

The Extended Diploma is delivered as a two year programme:

Students are expected to satisfactorily complete year 1 of the programme prior to being considered for progression to year 2.

Why Our College?

Trips & Visits

Our travel and tourism students go on a variety of educational visits each year to places like Disneyland Paris, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Headquarters and Potters Resorts.

Entry Requirements

Minimum 5 GCSE's at grade 4 or above including Maths and English. Or an equivalent Level 2 qualification including GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above. Demonstrate an interest in the course and a understanding of the Travel and Tourism industry. Candidates are invited to attend an informal interview and must provide a reference.

Assessment

Assessment takes a variety of forms including written assignments, online tests, role plays, practical work, group work and observation.

Progression

After successfully completing year one of the course at merit level with good attendance and disciplinary record, you will continue onto year two of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

Future options include;

  • Degree in Travel and Tourism.
  • Degree in Leisure and Events Management.

Career Progression

The Travel and Tourism sector continues to grow which means there are opportunities for a flexible skilled workforce. The UK travel industry has shown a increase in job roles in recent years both abroad and in the UK.

  • Holiday resort reps.

This course provides numerous opportunities to meet potential employers and many of our students have successfully secured employment with them at travel agencies, the airport and holiday resorts either on an apprenticeship basis or direct employment.

Fees

Currently for UK students aged under 19 years old on the 31st August prior to the start of your course, your tuition fees are free. In addition to this there will be costs for trips and study visits, the details of which will be advised at enrolment. All students wear a uniform of black trousers or skirt, red polo shirt and black hoodie which you can order and purchase at enrolment.
