What You Will Study

The T Level Foundation in Marketing programme provides a high-quality route onto T Levels, for students who would benefit from the additional study time and preparation that it will give you before you start a T Level.

You will cover:

  • Marketing in business
  • Research the marketing of a product or service
  • How to create digital marketing communications
  • How to plan and present a marketing campaigning.

You will develop other transferable technical and practical skills in communication working with colleagues and customers, and research and project work giving you the opportunity to show reflective practice by suggesting different approaches to solving a problem. The college has a good relationships with marketing companies that are very involved with the project journeys for our students.

The course will provide you with skills and knowledge with a focus on the following core aspects:

  • Knowledge and skills for the workplace
  • Industry relevant technical knowledge
  • Skills for successful study
  • English, maths and digital skills

This qualification has been developed in consultation with employers in the marketing sector. This means that it will enable you to develop the skills and behaviours required for working in this fast-paced sector. All of the content of the qualification is mandatory and relates directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers in the marketing sector.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have achieved five GCSEs at grade 3 or above - this will need to include either GCSE English language or maths at grade 4 or above.

How You Will Be Assessed

You will be assessed through four units. Within the units, you will be assessed through onscreen testing, assignments and presentations. Units are assessed using a grading scale of Distinction, Merit, Pass and Unclassified. All units in the qualification contribute proportionately to the overall qualification grade.

Unit one: Marketing in business
Unit two: Research the marketing of a product or service
Unit three: Create digital marketing communications
Unit four: Plan and present a marketing campaign

Course Progression

Progression can be to your chosen Level 3 T Level subject, employment, an apprenticeship or another course. The expectation is that students wishing to progress to the Level 3 T Level programme will have met the 90% attendance target and have demonstrated a good level of performance in terms of work progress and behaviour. You will also need to achieve a Merit overall for the Level 2 qualification and a GCSE in English and maths to the required grade.

Where Your Course Can Take You

The subject area can lead you into a wide variety of different jobs in a range of business and marketing environments. You could consider roles such as Marketing Administrator, Marketing Assistant and Digital Marketing Assistant.

Fees

If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over fees may be payable.
