What You Will Study

Entry Requirements
- Five GCSE subjects at grade 5 or above including English language and maths
- If you have taken GCSE geography, you must also have achieved a minimum of grade 5.
How You Will Be Assessed
You will have three examinations at the end of the second year as well as completing an individual investigation, which must include data collected in the field. The individual investigation is an excellent opportunity to explore an area of geography you have a particular passion for, and it also allows you to demonstrate to universities and employers that you are able to complete a long form report based on data you have collected - a key skill.
Course Progression
An A Level in Geography may lead on to a related degree, but the skills you will learn such as thinking, writing clearly and logically and interpreting different kinds of data will be useful in a wide range of other subjects. Geography is identified by selective universities as one of the subjects they prefer applicants to have studied at A Level. You may also consider studying a BSc (Hons) Wildlife and Conservation degree with City College Norwich Higher Education.
Where Your Course Can Take You
Geography can help you progress to a variety of careers, such as conservation and environmental management, town planning, teaching or international development. The skills gained from A Level Geography would be useful if you are planning to seek employment or work in the voluntary sector on conservation and humanitarian projects.
