What You Will Study
In A Level Geography you will study some of the most fascinating aspects of the human and physical world, and explore some of the most pressing issues of our time.
You will dive into both physical and human geography, understanding the natural world and the complex relationships between people and the environment. You will tackle contemporary global challenges such as climate change, migration, urbanisation, and sustainability.
The course encourages you to think critically about these issues and understand the debates that surround them, preparing you to make informed decisions in your future career and everyday life.??
Entry Requirements
You will need to achieve at least six subjects at grade 4 or above, with at least four of these at grade 5 or above. You will need to achieve a minimum of grade 5 in English Language and Maths. You do not need to have completed GCSE Geography, however if it has been taken, a minimum of a grade 5 should have been achieved.
How You Will Be Assessed
You will have three examinations at the end of the second year as well as completing an individual investigation which must include data collected in the field. The individual investigation must be based on a question or issue you have defined and developed that relates to any part of the specification content.
Course Progression
An A Level in Geography could lead on to a related degree, but the skills you will learn such as thinking and writing clearly and logically and interpreting different kinds of data will be useful in a wide range of other subjects. Geography is identified by selective universities as one of the subjects they prefer applicants to have studied at A Level. You could consider studying a BSc (Hons) Wildlife and Conservation degree Through City College Norwich Higher Education at Easton College.
Where Your Course Can Take You
Geography can also help you move on to a variety of careers, such as; conservation and environmental management, town planning, teaching or international development.
