Essential information for clients

Solutions Hair Salon is located in the Cromer Building on our Ipswich Road campus (Ipswich Road, Norwich, NR2 2LJ). Click here for campus map.

Please park at the front of our main building. You may need to use one of the designated short-stay parking bays on Ipswich Road or and consider alternative transportation options.

If you do park on site, please collect a permit from Hair & Beauty reception or Main reception to display in your vehicle for the duration of your appointment.

Keep in mind that we are open during term time only. Solutions is closed on Bank holidays, half terms and during the Christmas, Easter and summer holidays.

Service availability depends on the teaching programme, therefore not all cuts/treatments are always available. If you are particularly interested in a specific treatment let us know and we will put, you on a list to be informed when this is available to you.

Within some cuts/treatments the student may be assessed therefore the lecturer will need to watch and observe throughout your treatment.

We respectfully ask our clients to remember that we are a training salon and, as such both hair and beauty appointments may start late and run longer than expected. We appreciate your constructive feedback as our students are learning. This not only helps their development but also in our teaching and enjoyment of the service you receive. You can either speak to a member of staff in the salons or scan the QR code in the salons and reception area to complete our online form. Please allow extra time in your slot to cater for treatment lateness as we cannot always adhere to the times allocated.

We reserve the right to change any treatment without prior notice and all prices are subject to change at the City College Norwich staff member’s discretion.

We do not allocate specific student hairdressers for cuts/treatments so you will be allocated a hairdresser based on the tutor/student requirements.

Our clients can book up to a month in advance for their cuts/treatments.

It is essential to our students learning that clients attend their appointments.

Change of service -  We require a minimum of  24 hours notice if you wish to change your service. This will ensure the smooth running of our salon and we have the right student to carry out your service.

We need at least two contact numbers from you when booking to ensure a smooth running of the salon.

Certain treatments/services may take longer than expected please be ready for this

24 hours’ notice is appreciated if cancelling any appointments as failure to do so may affect students' assessments.

If we need to cancel your appointment which sometimes we may do if the student is absent for whatever reason, we will endeavour to inform you as soon as we can and try and offer you a suitable alternative.

Please call us if you are going to be delayed avoiding any inconvenience, if the appointment is delayed longer than 30 minutes, we will have no choice to open this availability to clients who previously wanted this time.

Cancellation/ failure to attend of appointments at short notice will impact our students learning. Customers cancelling at short notice three times will no longer be able to book and will only be able to access our walk-in offer (subject to availability).

If you call us and we cannot get you an appointment, we have a list for each day if we have any cancellations and we will call you if this is the case to get you booked in.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to allow for parking, arrival, filling in of record cards and taking payment where necessary. We will endeavour to accommodate your treatment, but we cannot guarantee a full treatment if you are late. If there is no-one on reception take a seat and someone will be with you as soon as possible.

If parking on site, please collect a parking permit at the Hair & Beauty reception. This must be clearly displayed in your vehicle.

As a courtesy to other clients, we request that all mobile phones are on silent. If you need to make a call, please can we ask you take the call outside the salon.

We kindly request your patience and support for all our students, emphasising the importance of recognising their training process. Please refrain from offering guidance that deviates from their instructed methods, as this could potentially undermine the confidence we aim to build. We politely ask that you avoid demonstrating or directing the treatment in any manner to prevent confusion for the students.

Solutions salons is still a training environment where the health and safety to our clients and students is priority. Clients are advised that we cannot carry out any services for under 16's and they are not permitted in the salon.

Please be aware that some treatments may not be suitable for customers with certain conditions therefore upon arrival you will be asked to fill in a medical consultation sheet.

In the event of any treatment(s) being unsuitable for you your stylist /therapist will advise you an alternative.

Please note that some treatments may require a doctor’s note. You will be advised at the time of your consultation.

Skin tests for hair colour are carried from the start of each academic year in September. For follow on appointments you will be asked a series of contradiction questions from ASP, the manufacturer of our colour products.

If you answer 'no' to the contraindication  questions then your skin test will remain valid.

If you answer 'yes' to any of  the contraindications listed by ASP, we will need to re-skin test you for your next colour appointment.

In both cases you will you will be asked to sign against your answer.

The College is committed to safeguarding and the wellbeing of our students. Our campus is not routinely open to the public, so awe ask Salon customers to make their way directly to the Salon reception on arrival, and to leave the campus once their appointment has been completed.

Your name, telephone number and email address will be held in our digital booking system for a year after your last booking and then deleted. Your data will only be used to contact you regarding your booking and current offers at our Salon.

All clients are responsible for their own personal belongings, including those removed for treatment/service purposes. City College Norwich will not be held responsible for loss, damage or theft of any items, howsoever caused.

We offer a selection of gift vouchers which can be redeemed against any of our treatments or retail stock. They are non-refundable and our valid for the academic year (September-June) commencing from purchase date. We also stock Facial, Manicure and Pedicure packs please ask at reception.

Your constructive feedback is welcomed at the end of the session. Please speak to the tutor in confidence who can then feedback to our student.
