What You Will Study
This course is designed for anyone who wants to start learning Korean from scratch. You’ll begin by learning the Korean alphabet (Hangeul), which is logical, systematic and easy to learn. The course focuses on building a strong foundation so you can read, write and use basic Korean with confidence.
Over six weeks, you’ll start with Korean consonants and vowels, before learning how to combine them into syllables and words. You’ll then explore final consonants, reading and writing simple words, and writing names in Korean.
As the course progresses, you’ll move on to forming simple sentences, using essential grammar such as the verb to be, and learning practical vocabulary including greetings, introductions, occupations and countries. You’ll also explore everyday language inspired by modern Korean culture, helping you better understand popular Korean media such as Squid Game and K-pop content.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to read and write basic Korean, introduce yourself, use common greetings, and take part in simple conversations. You’ll gain confidence using Korean and leave with a solid base for further study - whether your interest comes from travel, culture, K-dramas, or K-pop fandoms like K-pop Demon Hunters.
Running Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm
