What You Will Study

This 20-week Art and Design Level 2 Award (UAL) is designed specifically for adults who want to develop a strong creative portfolio for progression into Access to Higher Education Art and Design and other Level 3 pathways.

Delivered through one three-hour evening class per week, this practical and inspiring course gives you the skills, confidence and support to explore a wide range of art and design processes.

Whether you’re returning to education, changing career direction, or rediscovering a long-held creative ambition, this course offers the perfect stepping stone into the world of creative study.

Entry Requirements

You do not need a previous art qualifications to join this course. An interest in developing your creative skills and a willingness to explore new techniques will be essential.

Basic English skills will help you complete written reflections that support your portfolio.

How You Will Be Assessed

You will be assessed through a portfolio of practical work supported by written reflections and research. There are no examinations. Instead, you will build a body of work across the 20 weeks, and your tutor will guide you through each stage of the assessment process so you understand what you need to do to succeed.

Your final portfolio will form the basis of your assessment and will demonstrate your skills, creativity and development over the course.

Course Progression

After successfully completing Art and Design Level 2, you could progress to:

  • Access to Higher Education Art and Design at City College Norwich
  • Other Level 3 creative study pathways such as Art and Design, Photography, Fashion, Graphics or related courses
  • Foundation-level creative courses offered elsewhere if suited to your progression aims

This course is designed specifically to prepare you for further creative study and help you move confidently into the next stage of your education.

Creative jobs can vary widely in salary depending on experience and specialism, and many roles allow you to combine freelance and employed work.

Fees

If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16 to 18 on 31st August before the start of your course, your tuition fees will be free.
