What You Will Study
Step into the world of traditional photography and rediscover the magic of the darkroom. This hands-on course is perfect for absolute beginners, intermediate learners, and even those with prior experience who wish to further develop their skills or work on independent projects. Whether you're completely new to film or looking to refine your darkroom practice, this course provides a supportive and creative environment to explore black and white photography.
Who is this course for?
- Complete beginners with no prior experience in darkroom work
- Intermediate photographers looking to build confidence in black and white film and print techniques
- Experienced photographers wanting to refine their craft or develop personal projects
What will you learn?
- How to develop 35mm black and white film using the wet process
- How to use a photographic enlarger and multigrade filters to control tone and contrast
- How to produce 10” x 8” black and white prints from your own negatives
- Creative use of darkroom materials, including photograms and alternative methods
All essential materials and equipment will be provided. You are encouraged to bring your own 35mm black and white negatives (if you have them), but this is not required.
The course will run Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8.30pm.
Entry Requirements
You will require use of a 35mm film camera at beginner's level.
