What You Will Study

This two-year T Level course has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, designed to meet the needs of the digital industry. It will prepare you for a career in the digital sector and offers a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience where you will develop your skills and apply the knowledge you have learnt through an industry placement of at least 45 days (315 hours).

The course is split into two sections: core content which you will complete in the first year, and an occupational specialism in digital support which you will complete in the second year.

In year one, you will gain core knowledge and develop a general understanding of digital from the following:

  • How digital technologies impact business and market environment
  • The ethical and moral implications of digital technology
  • Using data in software design
  • Using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
  • Digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments
  • Legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies
  • The privacy and confidentiality of personal data
  • The technical, physical and human aspects of internet security
  • Planning digital projects
  • Testing software, hardware and data
  • Digital tools for project management and collaboration

You will also learn about topics specific to digital support services including:

  • Roles within the digital support services sector
  • Communication in digital support services
  • Fault analysis and problem resolution

You will learn in our state-of-the-art Digi-Tech Factory equipped with £750,000 worth of the latest computer technology including 340 PCs and 538 monitors specified for a wide range of digital applications ranging from programming to CAD, architectural design, animation, video editing, and virtual reality.

This course is equivalent to three A Levels.

Entry Requirements

You will need to achieve five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and math, and if taken, GCSE Computer Science at grade 5 or above.

How You Will Be Assessed

Assessment will take place through a combination of externally set exams, an employer-set project in the first year and end point occupational specialist assessment in the second year.

All assessment is external, written and set by the Awarding Body, Pearson.

  • Year 1 Core is assessed with two written exams plus an employer set project which is a brief that relates to your specialism.
  • Year 2 Occupational Specialism is assessed by one large ‘integration project’ that provides a business problem for you to analyse and solve.

Course Progression

You could progress onto an Apprenticeship or explore university-level study or employment. Through City College Norwich Higher Education, you can study HND Digital Technologies - Cyber Security or HND Digital Technologies - Software Development and Programming, supporting you to progress close to home.

Where Your Course Can Take You

You could consider a career as an infrastructure technician or a role in IT support. You could also progress onto roles such as an IT security coordinator or IT support technician.
