What You Will Study

Our T Level Foundation Year in Digital provides a high-quality route onto T Levels and is aimed at students who would benefit from the additional study time and preparation that it will give them before they start a Digital T Level pathway.

On this course you will learn a variety of technical and digital skills across the year. You will learn about IT Support, Cyber Security and programming as well as analysing data and investigating new and emerging technology.

You will learn in our state-of-the-art Digi-Tech Factory equipped with £750,000 worth of the latest computer technology including 340 PCs and 538 monitors specified for a wide range of digital applications ranging from programming to CAD, architectural design, animation, video editing, and virtual reality. The ground floor of the building is dedicated to the practical application of technology in the world of work – with workshops dedicated to electronic control systems, break/fix environments for networking, PC maintenance, and infrastructure engineering.

Entry Requirements

You will need to achieve five GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language and maths.

How You Will Be Assessed

The T Level Foundation Year in Digital programme includes a Level 2 qualification. You will undertake the Level 2 Cambridge Technical Certificate in IT that has a mixture of internally assessed assignments as well as two externally assessed exams. You will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction at the end of the course.

Course Progression

You could progress to study a Level 3 T Level course in Digital Support Services or Digital Software Development, or explore other courses or Apprenticeships.

The expectation is that students wishing to progress to our Level 3 T Levels programmes need to have met the 90% attendance target and have demonstrated a good level of performance in terms of work, progress and behaviour. You will also need to achieve a Pass overall for the Level 2 qualification and have grade 3 or above in GCSE English and maths.

Where Your Course Can Take You

Following completion of your studies, you could consider a career as a software engineer, quality assurance engineer, mobile app developer, IT support technician, cybersecurity analyst, systems administrator or network engineer.

Fees

If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over fees may be payable.
