What You Will Study
You will study the UAL Level 3 Applied General Diploma and Extended Diploma in Art and Design over two years, designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress into higher education, further training or employment.
The Art and Design pathway is enjoyable, varied and challenging. It is designed for those who are not yet sure of which specialist area of Art and Design you wish to pursue.
You will be introduced to a range of mediums and different disciplines such as: painting, print-making, drawing, textiles, graphic image making, design and fine art approaches as well as problem solving. You will study nine units which have been designed to enable your development, understanding, awareness and application of visual language and communication. As you progress you will be encouraged to review and evaluate your work using analytical and communication skills to make informed progression decisions about individual pieces of work, projects, portfolio preparation and progression on to year two or related work.
The diploma is graded at Pass, High Pass, Merit, High Merit or Distinction, with the Distinction grade being worth 84 UCAS points.
In addition to your main programme you will also study English and Maths.
