What You Will Study
This is a one-year course aimed at learners who are wishing to explore in more depth and develop a broad skillset within the Media, Business and Digital sectors. It is designed to provide post-16 students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress into further education, training or employment.
If you are interested in a career in this sector but may not quite be ready for a two-year Level 3 course, or if you did not achieve the English language and maths grades needed for a Level 3 or T Level course, then this is for you.
There are 15 units to study covering content with a mix of digital, marketing and business skills such as:
- Business Environment
- Sale and the Law
- Spreadsheet Software
- Video Software
- Digital Marketing
- Social media marketing
- Brand Development
- Project Management
The qualification was developed in association with Agilisys Arch, who worked with partners such as Google, Streamingwell, Inclusive media, and McLaren showing that is content is industry focused and relevant to today’s working environment.

Entry Requirements
You will need to achieve at least 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, one of which must include English language or Maths GCSE.
How You Will Be Assessed
Most of the work for the course is assessed through building a portfolio of evidence, although some is through formal assessment. However, if you are taking English or maths there will be exams for those.
You will be awarded a pass or a referral grade on each unit/project. You will need to pass all units in order to achieve the qualification.
Some units/projects will have set deadlines and there will be sufficient time to complete all the work in class, although some projects may require some work to be completed outside the classroom such as filming.
Course Progression
The main intent of this one-year course is to support you into employment or an apprenticeship. On successful completion of the course, you could also progress to study on a Level 3 course within the Media, Business and Digital area, including Business, Digital, Media or Games Design.
Where Your Course Can Take You
The course will help develop creative skills in media, digital and marketing. You will also get some understanding of the business environment. All of these are useful in a wide range of careers.
Fees
If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over fees may be payable.
