Job Description
We are looking for an Officer to join our Democratic Services team, which sits at the core of the Council. The team works closely with Elected Members (Councillors) supporting the decision-making processes, providing governance advice and organising their training and development. They also work with the wider community through engaging with our town and parish councils.
As part of this dynamic and innovative team, you will play a vital role in providing procedural advice and support to the Council’s decision making bodies, ensuring the Council is successfully working towards its goals and targets. Guiding and supporting the Council’s oversight committees, including Overview & Scrutiny, Governance, Risk & Audit Committee (GRAC), and Standards Committee.
This will cover a wide range of matters such as involvement in the monitoring of the Council’s corporate plan, policy development, service and performance reviews, and liaising with external partners and stakeholders. You will work closely with the Council’s Senior Management Team and Elected Members, to help to shape and ensure the success of North Norfolk District Council.
The successful candidate will have an innovative approach to their work, be adept at working within a challenging political environment, and be an excellent communicator. You will be skilled at preparing a wide range of written documents; including minutes, committee reports, and high level analysis of data.
