What You Will Study

The course is broad and expansive, supporting you to study and develop your skills in acting, dance and musical theatre, working towards the University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.

This course is an outstanding foundation for Level 3 study within the department. You will receive a thorough grounding in the key aspects of performing arts and and will participate in public performances throughout the year in our 160-seat Platform Theatre.

Key tasks during the course include: Learning lines and rehearsing, researching or undertaking activities to help prepare for a part, discussing interpretation and delivery with other members of the company and the director, performing for a live audience and managing the day-to-day running of the theatre, including “front of house” duties.

You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment and also be able to attend rehearsals and performances, some of which will be during the evening.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have achieved four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language and maths. It is expected that you are engaging with performing arts training outside of school. As part of the entry requirements you will be required to complete an audition and interview.

How You Will Be Assessed

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and requires you to complete projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Assessment activities that you may undertake include participating in practical workshops, rehearsals, performances, coursework, research, keeping journals, writing essays, giving presentations, discussing and evaluating work.

Course Progression

After successfully completing this course, you can progress onto the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma programme, choosing from: Acting, Dance, Music Performance and Production, Musical Theatre or Production Arts (T Level).

Where Your Course Can Take You

Performing and Production Arts develops the skills and attributes highly prized by employers: collaborative working. creative problem-solving, events management and presentation skills.

You could progress onto a career as an Events Manager, Front of House, Performer, Dancer and Choreographer, Set Designer, Studio Technician, Festival Director, Lighting or Sound Technician.
