What You Will Study

The UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Performance has a musical theatre, triple-threat focus, and has been designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress into higher education or conservatoire training. The course will also support you if you are intending to progress directly into employment in the creative industries.

This qualification will provide n opportunity to stretch and refine your practical skill levels whilst defining your own personal interests and area of expertise. The qualification is suitable for those who intend to pursue a career in the creative sector. It will allow you to explore, develop and test your creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition into either higher-level training or employment.

Situated within our in-house 160 seat Platform Theatre you will gain industry insights on running a successful theatre company as well as multiple opportunities to perform to a live audience.

Entry Requirements

You will need to achieve a Level 3 Extended Diploma in a relevant subject at Merit or above. If you studied A Levels you will need two full A Levels at grade C or above with one A level being in Drama and Theatre Studies or other related subject. You will need to have GCSE English and maths at Grade 4 or above.

Applicants will be invited for an audition and interview which forms a core part of our selection process. Relevant industry and performance experience will also be highly prized during our selection process.

How You Will Be Assessed

This is a project-based and coursework assessed course. All the work you do has a practical and performance-based focus.
You will be assessed across three mandatory units:

  • Unit 1: Applied Professional Practice
  • Unit 2: Specialist Performance Practice
  • Unit 3: Specialist Performance Project (Final Major Project).

Course Progression

City College Norwich is a member of the University of the Arts London (UAL) Progression Partnership to promote the recruitment of talented, creative students from high quality further education institutions to UAL higher education degree level courses. The course team also work with local and national higher education providers such as LMA, Rose Bruford, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Performers college to ensure that our students are ready and prepared for their next step.

After successful completion of the full Level 4 Diploma course, you could move into a variety of different professional pathways, consider further study and training at university or specialised vocational training at accredited Drama schools and/or conservatoires.

Where Your Course Can Take You

This nationally recognised qualification will open doors for you to experience working as a creative practitioner. It will be your springboard into the industry through further refinement or your performance skills and learning about the mechanics of the industry, through our 'Industry Insights' programme that includes networking with local and national creatives and employers.

Fees

If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over please contact the Advice Shop. All students will need to provide their own basic equipment, including an minimum 1TB hard drive, with a list provided during induction. Students pay for enrichment trips and educational visits during the academic year. International trips are optional and are at additional cost payable by the student.
