Motion Bear Media at Norwich Fashion Week

Motion Bear Media students made a variety of media that promoted and supported all shows for Norwich Fashion Week 2017.
All team members worked across the live shows to gain outstanding experience of production and event management.
The five shows this year were Retailers, Hair & Make-up, Vintage, Designers and Fashion Excess.
The event management team were responsible for the smooth running of the shows, coordinating designers, hair & make-up, retailers and models. The production team filmed and vision mixed each live show which streamed to the internet.

‘Snakeophile’ lecturer aiming to protect wildlife and save lives through Kenya visit

Stephen Spawls, a lecturer who teaches Access to Higher Education courses at City College Norwich, will be heading to the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya this Easter, to carry out fieldwork which will aid conversation efforts and help local people to co-exist more safely with snakes.     

Mr Spawls, from Spixworth, will be conducting wildlife survey work, providing training for staff who work in the National Park, and producing a booklet on the reptiles and amphibians of the area (written in English and Swahili). 

Awards celebrate outstanding Apprentices and their employers

City College Norwich held its annual Apprenticeship Awards in The Hostry at Norwich Cathedral during National Apprenticeship Week, putting the spotlight on its most outstanding Apprentices and the employers who support Apprenticeship training.

Professional cookery students and staff impress at world’s greatest culinary competition

Five professional cookery students and three chef lecturers from City College Norwich have won a bronze medal in the prestigious Junior Parade des Chefs competition at the British Open Cookery Championships. The event, which has been described as the world’s greatest culinary competition, took place at the Birmingham NEC arena.

Former world sailing champion to mentor Sixth Form Centre students

Two A Level students from City College Norwich’s Sixth Form Centre will receive guidance and support from former World and European Sailing Champion, Sam Brearey, after being selected for a life-changing mentoring scheme run by AQA and the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

Ellie Chettleburgh and George Watson were selected out of over 100 applicants for the AQA Unlocking Potential programme. The students were nominated by their tutor, Charlotte Andrews, who saw their outstanding potential and passion to succeed.
