Counter Sales

A&W Cushion

Norwich, NR2 4PW

Job Description

Looking for a new role?

Want to join a successful business in the heart of Norwich?

Like variety?

Interested in timber and the building trade?

Want to work with a supportive and fun team?

Then look no further….

A&W Cushion Limited have been trading timber products in Norwich for 180 years and we are currently recruiting for additional counter sales staff.

The job involves serving customers, pricing and quotations, responding to enquiries and handling payments, as well as loading and unloading vehicles, picking orders, occasional mill work and general yard duties.
Full training will be provided to become a confident and capable timber trader in a respected company, surrounded by supportive, knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.

Job Type:
This is a full time, permanent role. Due to customer requirements, Saturdays may need to be worked on a rota basis (approx. 1 in 4), and some overtime may need to be undertaken on occasion, so flexibility is key.

Although some experience would be good, it is more important for applicants to be confident, resilient and able to learn how to handle enquiries, whilst managing customer expectations.

Applicants will need a good level of mathematical, literacy and IT skills, as the role involves payment handling, documentation completion and data entry. They should also have the capability, with support, to price and quote on customer requirements.

Some relevant product knowledge and an interest in timber is preferable, but full training will be provided. Similarly, a fork lift truck licence and first aid qualification would be required but this training can be attained as part of the applicant’s development.

Elements of the job are physical and some heavy lifting and carrying will be a requirement.

Successful candidates will need to have some understanding of Health and Safety as well as the ability to work to company procedures.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate an ability to think on their feet and will have an enthusiastic approach, a can-do attitude and a positive team ethic, with a commitment to high quality, accurate and timely work.

In return, this established business offers competitive pay and bonuses, ongoing training and a friendly team environment in a sustainable trade.
