Cleaner

NBI Partnership

Norwich, NR4 7UH

Job Description

The Norwich BioScience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for two Cleaners (0.54 FTE) to join their busy Facilities department.

Background:

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of internationally renowned research organisations, working to tackle major challenges of the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, our food supplies and healthy ageing.

The NBI Partnership provides high quality, non-scientific support services for the diverse community of staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership.

Based on the Norwich Research Park amongst 230 hectares of parkland, you will be joining a committed, professional and welcoming team. In addition, you will enjoy a competitive salary and annual leave, our defined contribution pension scheme, excellent recreational facilities and a range of other employee benefits.

The Facilities Department provides unique Facilities Management Services to the John Innes Institute, the Sainsbury Laboratories and the Earlham Institute. Our prime objective is to deliver safe, high quality scientific environments, which support scientists involved with market leading, world class research, and our Cleaning Team is a key part of providing this environment.

The role:

To undertake general cleaning duties quickly, efficiently and in a safe manner, within a variety of assigned areas ranging from offices, conference facilities and laboratories in accordance with the various service level agreements of the various clients served.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous relevant work experience as a Cleaner or Housekeeper. Competency in health and safety matters as they relate to the provision of cleaning services is essential, as are excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work on own initiative and the ability to prioritise to meet the demands of the role.

Our Cleaners typically start at 5am or 6am Monday to Friday, so the ability to start at that time is an essential requirement to this post. Some flexibility around those hours, i.e. extending working hours on occasion will also be required.
Due to the demands of the role, it is essential for the ideal candidate to be able to handle potentially heavy or awkward cleaning equipment and machinery, and stand/walk for long periods of time (reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability).

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be £9,880 (£18,278 FTE). There are 2 permanent, part-time posts of 20 hours per week, with core hours of either 5am - 9am or 6am - 10am Monday to Friday.
