Students help with Poppy Appeal
7th November 2018
A group of 8 students on the Creative Pathways course at City College Norwich have helped out with the Royal British Legion’s 2018 Poppy Appeal.
Continuing a well-established partnership between the college’s Inclusive Learning area and the Royal British Legion, the students worked over 3 days to help in preparing poppies for this year’s appeal.
With thousands of boxes of poppies going on sale in the region, the students were given responsibility for checking stock from last year’s appeal.
This involved the students sorting through boxes of the familiar paper poppies, as well as other items such as car stickers, and quality checking them prior to the items going on sale.
Creative Pathways student Amie Dacre said, “I learnt that the poppies were designed so that wounded soldiers could make them with one hand. It was hard work, but I was happy helping out and we had fun!”
Fellow Creative Pathways student Ashley Abad added, “I love history. I learnt when the war started and when it ended. I felt tired but proud to have done this.”
