Industry placements: what could a CCN student bring to your business?

9th August 2019 – Tags: Employers, Industry Placements, T Levels

College courses are changing. The new T Level qualifications will ensure that students gain more work experience so that they leave college even more prepared for their future careers.

City College Norwich is leading the way on T Levels.  In readiness for the new qualification, we are working with our employer partners to significantly increase the work experience opportunities available to students.

What are industry placements?

The new industry placements are much more extensive than previous work experience initiatives your business or organisation may have been part of in the past.

With an industry placement you, as an employer, get a talented young person, with skills relevant to your core business, working regularly over the course of a year – for 1 or 2 days a week, to reach a total placement duration of 350 hours.

What are the benefits for employers?

This extended work experience means you really get to know the young person and what they can bring to your business; it allows them to fully understand your business and contribute more as a result; and it creates scope for them to become fully involved in projects and add real value to your workplace.

The placement is fully supported by the college.  We will work closely with you and the young person to ensure a mutually beneficial experience.

What skills could an industry placement student bring into your business?

We have students with the following skills who would love to gain experience and make a valuable contribution to your business or organisation:

  • Bricklaying
  • Business and Accounts
  • Carpentry
  • Creative Media
  • Engineering
  • Games Design
  • Hair and Beauty
  • Health and Social Care
