Will Jamison shares how his hands on City College Norwich journey set him on the road for a degree apprenticeship with Rolls Royce PLC.
Starting my journey
I studied a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at City College Norwich, graduating in 2018. The tutors at college are brilliant, and they supported me throughout my course with individual tutors also helping me to prep for interviews with companies.
My course and tutors helped me to understand engineering principles and forge connections for work experience.
Driving home success
When I completed my course, I applied for a Degree Apprenticeship at Rolls Royce PLC in Manufacturing Engineering at site in Derby.
I am currently on my second year of my Degree Apprenticeship. I’m training to be a manufacturing engineer in the assembly and testing of jet engines. I attend the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at the University of Sheffield once a week for my bachelor’s degree.
I plan to finish my Degree Apprenticeship and progress to work as a Manufacturing Engineer at Rolls Royce PLC. Longer term, I aim to be a successful engineering, making an impact on flight becoming increasingly efficient and sustainable.
If I could sum up my City College Norwich journey in one word it would be ‘successful’!
