Summary
You will gain core knowledge in a variety of areas such as health and safety, building services engineering (BSE) systems, maintenance principles and building technology. You will then go on to specialise in electrotechnical engineering and study topics such as tools, equipment and materials, installation and wiring, fault finding and principles of national standards (all of which will allow you to install) and commission, maintain and decommission electrotechnical systems.
As part of this course, you will complete a mandatory “on the job” industry placement (315hrs) with an employer to develop your practical and technical skills.

Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including Science and Maths at grade 5/C and English at grade 4/C or above.
Assessment
Assessment will take place through a combination of externally set exams, an employer-set project and endpoint synoptic assessment.
Progression
Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress onto a career in the construction and engineering industry. You could enter employment or start an Apprenticeship. You can also progress on to university level courses.
Fees
For UK students aged under 19 years old on the 31st August prior to the start of your course, your tuition fees are free. UK students aged 19 years or over on the 31st August prior to the start of your course, will need to pay tuition fees as well as any equipment, uniform and exam fees. Some adults may be eligible for free tuition. There will be additional costs of £25 for equipment plus trip costs. You will also need to buy safety boots, approximately £10.50.
