BTEC Applied Science
- September 2019, Full Time
This course offers a comprehensive knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics at an A-level standard, with added focus on industry standards, work-based approaches to lab techniques and procedures, and the impact of scientific enquiry on the wider world.

The course is made up of a variety of units which cover core content of all three sciences, which may include:
*Structure and bonding and applications in materials science
*Cell function, microscopy and health
*Electromagnetic radiation and uses in science and technology
*Data collection and analysis
*Enzyme structure and function
*Further study in fields of Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Good English and Maths skills are essential for many jobs and courses you will progress on to. The Government has made it a priority for students to develop these skills and your course programme will reflect this key aim.
Assessment is through a variety of methods, which include assignments, coursework, and written examinations. This qualification will include both internal and external assessment methods.
To progress on to the second year of study you must achieve a Merit grade plus exceptional attendance and disciplinary record. Further academic options could include study at degree or foundation degree level at University or College, or higher-level apprenticeships in laboratory science.
You can progress to a career in laboratory science or health related professions. Please note that this course would not enable direct entry into a medicine degree.
