Mathematics for Numeracy Teaching, Award Level 3

For practitioners who assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally-related subject areas who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. This may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments.
You need have occupational competence in the area you wish to assess. This is usually demonstrated through holding a qualification at level 3 or above in the area of work you wish to assess. You will normally need access to at least two candidates to complete assessment practice in order to gain the qualification. You will need to be working with another assessor who can countersign your decisions. If you are new to assessing or hope to become an assessor but are not yet able to carry out real assessments you are able to complete the underpinning knowledge and understanding unit, Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment on its own and will not need access to candidates to assess.
Assessment will be through a variety of methods including assignments, observation, witness testimony and gathering of evidence to develop a portfolio of practice.
You could progress onto other qualifications such as City , Guilds Level 4 in Internal Verification, City , Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training, City , Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, City , Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, City , Guilds Level 3 English for Literacy and Mathematics for Numeracy Teaching, Level 3 ILM Award in Mentoring, Level 3 ILM Award in Coaching.
You could progress into a number of careers including assessment in the workplace.

This course is a full cost course which means that unfortunately there are no reductions in tuition fees if you are unemployed or in receipt of benefits. You can pay by monthly or yearly instalments. The cost includes City , Guilds registration, practical materials and one attempt at each examination and assessment. Candidates must provide their own stationery, calculator and safety footwear for workshop use.
