Aimed at students who have specific barriers to learning which may have affected attendance and achievement at school. The course is designed to move students on to their next step in well-supported and engaging surroundings. Students are supported and encouraged by a small, dedicated team of lecturers, comprehensive student support in and out of sessions, alongside an effective wellbeing team.
This bespoke package is specifically designed for the needs of the students including strategic timetabling, a care package of one-to one and group wellbeing sessions to support students and delivery options such as live streamed and/or recorded classes to enable catching up where necessary.
Through completing the Phoenix Insight programme you can access any number of progression routes; either A levels, vocational courses or employment. Most importantly the course focuses on wellbeing of the student therefore progression is at the pace of the student. If students are not ready to move on after one year, there is scope to continue with us into a second year.
GCSE subjects include but are not limited to:
- English Language
Ideally maths and English GCSEs grade D/3. Students will be required to undertake a literacy and numeracy test on interview and achieve a minimum of level 1. If you have any concerns or specific needs in regards to interview please do not hesitate to contact us.
Assessment for GCSEs is through coursework and examinations, depending on the subject.
Phoenix Plus students have successfully accessed A-Levels and various further education courses before accessing higher education. A great number of students progress on to vocational courses across the college, either at level 2 or level 3.
Gaining GCSEs has allowed students to gain employment and apprenticeships in a wide variety of areas.
If you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 years and over please contact the Advice Shop There will be costs for equipment, uniform and trips. These include costs for text books, stationery and subject relevant materials. Trips can be organised as part of the for study and enrichment purposes which will be subject to cost. For example a trip to see a show at Theatre Royal for GCSE Drama the students will be expected to pay the price of the ticket. Compulsory visits are announced with enough notice to help secure any additional finance needs as required.
