Academic Progression Insight
- September 2020, Full Time
Academic Progression Insight is aimed at students who have specific health needs / barriers to learning, which may have affected attendance and achievement at school. This course is ideal for you if you have finished year 11 without the GCSE results you hoped for, have not taken GCSEs before, or need further support to be able to progress to the next level of study.
Insight is a one-year, full-time programme of study. Our friendly and supportive staff will help you build and develop the skills and knowledge you need to gain maths and English qualifications, plus other subjects if appropriate.
The programme of study includes a range of academic subjects, such as:
Art or Photography
In addition to your main qualification, there will be a focus on wellbeing support, alongside Enrichment which will enable you to develop some of the skills necessary to become a more efficient and effective student, including trips and visits; visiting speakers; experience of work; personal development; study skills and the opportunity to explore your chosen progression routes for the following academic year.
Ideally 3 x GCSEs Grade 3 / D including English and Maths
You will need to demonstrate a commitment to classroom-based academic study and be willing to undertake independent study outside of the classroom.
Applicants who have never taken GCSEs before will undertake an assessment at interview where you need to demonstrate that they are working at Level 1 or above for both maths and English.
Suitability for the course will be assessed at interview through discussion and activities.
Assessments for Academic Progression Insight will be through end of year exams for Functional Skills / GCSEs. Students will also put together a course portfolio of evidence.
