Pre Access Award, Level 2

The overall aim of the course is to provide applicants with the opportunity to build the necessary skills and qualifications to progress onto one of our Access to Higher Education Diplomas. The Level 2 certificate will help refresh and develop your academic and study skills and is designed to help applicants build a solid learning foundation in a welcoming and supportive environment. We want you to develop your knowledge and skills, but also to build new relationships, confidence and self-esteem.
There are no formal qualifications required to join the Pre-Access course however, through interview and assessments you should be able to demonstrate you are able to study at Level 1. You will also be over 19 years of age by the start of the course.
The Pre-Access (Level 2) Award course will include the following modules;
Investigating a Career – This module will enable you to research and gain a good understanding of the way your current career is changing. Do you wish to look at career options and choices? Are you thinking of changing your career?
IT Communication - will enable you to refresh you IT skills which will be essential for your current job role or future roles you wish to acquire. This unit will be useful for people wishing to return to study who may require guidance or a refresher on how to use different types of IT communication skills
Communicating Information - will be a useful unit to update your written English skills, or if you are thinking of enrolling onto GCSE English next year this will provide you with an insight into some of the content.
Assessment will be through assignments and a portfolio of evidence.
This Pre-Access Certificate will provide you with the confidence and study skills to apply for GCSE English and/or Maths or a level 2/3 apprenticeship. If you already have GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths, then course would be a good preparatory course if you are considering applying for an Access to HE.
During this Pre-Access Certificate, applicants will have the chance to think more about the career route they wish to follow.
