We are launching a new BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree, ready for September 2021 entry, which brings together many of the previous sports programmes offered by Easton College and City College Norwich into a single programme.

This programme will include a Sport, Health and Exercise Science pathway, which all students will be initially enrolled on, with students able to select an optional pathway in year two. These optional pathways will be in either Health, Fitness, Strength and Conditioning, or Coaching and Development. Please note that the optional pathways will only be offered in year two in cases where minimum group sizes of six are maintained.

Depending on the pathway taken in the second year of study, students will achieve one of the following awards:-
BSc (Hons) Sport, Health and Exercise Science
BSc (Hons) Sport, Health and Exercise Science (Health, Fitness, Strength and Conditioning)
BSc (Hons) Sport, Health and Exercise Science (Coaching and Development)

With excellent links with numerous fitness centres, sports clubs, governing bodies and organisations in the region, students have the invaluable opportunity to develop their vocational experience alongside their studies. Not only can this provide scope for students to apply for internships or additional qualifications, it further establishes the necessary skills required to secure employment upon completion of the course.

NB this programme will be delivered across both our Easton College and City College Norwich sites, in order to utilise the range of facilities at these locations.

Entry Requirements

  • Our typical offer is 64 UCAS tariff points from A levels or equivalent
  • A minimum of GCSE maths, English and science (preferred) grade 4/C or above or National Literacy and Numeracy tests at Level 2 or 3

  • UCAS tariff points from BTEC or City and Guilds diplomas are accepted
  • Open University credits in lieu of A levels

Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. For International students we require evidence of proficiency in English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading); the required minimum is IELTS Academic (SELT) 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components). Please contact the Admissions Team for advice and guidance.

This 3 year programme is delivered through a mixture of workshops, lectures, seminars, practical sessions, tutorials and self-directed study. Students are expected to use these as learning platforms, to build upon the content of lectures and seminars with group and peer discussion.

Previous students on similar courses have gained entry to Masters level study in areas such as physiotherapy, sports performance, sports psychology, sports management, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and sports therapy

Career Progression

Students have also progressed onto teacher training opportunities in secondary and primary settings. Students may also choose to enter employment or graduate internships in a range of industry based careers, such as research and development, activity leaders, teaching and education, health promotion, and strength and conditioning coaches. Some students have also established successful businesses, for example in the coaching industry.

Course fee per year: £8,000

Students will be required to purchase some sports kit, with the minimum requirement being to have at least two Sports tops (Cost of around £15 each). Individual students may decide to purchase additional items of kit up to a cost of approximately £150.
