Developing Skills in Health and Social Care (DSHSC)

The Developing Skills in Health and Social Care (DSHSC) project, partially funded by the European Social Fund, provides fully funded training to staff working in the Health and Social Care sector across Norfolk and Suffolk. City College Norwich is part of this collaborative project, led by Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils, alongside a range of local colleges, training providers and other partners. The aim of the project is to empower people working in the sector to develop new skills. This will enable them to continue providing high-quality care to local people.

City College Norwich is offering the following training:

Level 4 Empowering and Aspiring Future Managers in Adult Care course:

  • 1 x 3 hours live online session per week for 15 weeks.

You will study 6 out of the 20 units from the Highfield Level 4 Certificate in Principals in Leadership and Management for Adult Care. Please note, you will not achieve a full Level 4 qualification. You will receive unit certification for the 6 units that you have completed (11 credits out of 34 for the full qualification). Should you ever wish to complete the full Level 4 qualification, these units will count towards the full Highfield Level 4 Certificate in Principals in Leadership and Management for Adult Care.

Level 2 Award in Awareness of End of Life Care course:

  • 2 x half day live online sessions

You will receive the full NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Awareness of End of Life Care (3 credits).

Level 2 Dementia Awareness course:

  • 2 x half day live online sessions

You will study 1 unit on Dementia Awareness (2 credits). Please note, you will not achieve a full Level 2 qualification. You will receive unit certification for the 1 unit that you have completed. Should you ever wish to complete the full Level 2 qualification, this unit will count towards the full NCFE Level 2 in Awareness of Dementia.

Courses do not have specific start dates and will run on a rolling timetable. This allows us to ensure that courses can run once enough participants have signed up to the specific course. You will be required to supply information to support your enrolment and funding for the course and will be informed of the start date, days and times once your enrolment is complete.

As part of the project you will have access to one-to-one sessions through your course lecturer, plus you will be allocated a mentor by Norfolk/Suffolk County Council to support you on your learning journey.

To be eligible, participants must:

  • Be legally entitled to live and work in the UK
  • Live in Norfolk or Suffolk and be employed by an organisation that provides health and / or social care services for adults in Norfolk or Suffolk (This includes people who are self-employed).
