Connect is a 1 year full time course, set up to fully prepare and progress students onto a 3 subject GCSE pathway. As this course is an internal progression route for those who have completed the 'Insight' programme, connect will offer group wellbeing sessions to help promote self management of mental/ physical health conditions, alongside GCSE subjects. The course offers 2 GCSEs made up the following choices:


In addition to your main qualification and wellbeing support,, there will be an Enrichment package which will enable you to develop some of the skills necessary to become a more efficient and effective student, including trips and visits; visiting speakers; experience of work; personal development; study skills and the opportunity to explore your chosen progression routes for the following academic year.

Entry Requirements

Must have completed Academic Progression Insight to access this course ('Internal Progression' students only)

You will need to have demonstrated the ability to stabilise attendance during the Insight course prior to applying.


Assessments for Academic Progression connect will be through end of year exams for GCSEs. Students will also put together a course portfolio of evidence for Enrichment. personal development and wellbeing sessions.

If you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 years and over please contact the Advice Shop There will be costs for equipment, uniform and trips. These include costs for text books, stationery and subject relevant materials. Trips can be organised as part of the for study and enrichment purposes which will be subject to cost. For example a trip to see a show at Theatre Royal for GCSE Drama the students will be expected to pay the price of the ticket. Compulsory visits are announced with enough notice to help secure any additional finance needs as required.
