I am delighted that our fantastic StartUp Lounge, the unique new space where you can develop your enterprise, entrepreneurship and employability skills, is now open for business on the first floor of the Blakeney Building. Our official launch takes place next week (Friday 3rd February), but we have lots of great sessions for students running already!
City College Norwich is the first college in the country to get a StartUp Lounge, so do go and take a look around and take advantage of this amazing facility. The StartUp Lounge team are here to assist you in developing skills that will help you get the job you want, or to set up your own small business or social enterprise project. This term we are offering the following 1-hour sessions on job hunting, applications and interview, and the popular Barclays Money Skills course, all of which are free and are open to all City College Norwich students.

Could you be the face of Norwich Fashion Week 2012? |

A modelling competition has been launched to find budding models to appear on the catwalk at the forthcoming Norwich Fashion Week (8-15th March 2012).
A series of auditions are set to be held throughout February to find a selection of models that will be responsible for wearing designs from the region’s leading designers and boutiques.

Students’ Union drop-in sessions at St Andrews House |

From next week (week commencing 23 January) the Students’ Union will be available 2 days a week at St Andrews House for all student enquiries at the following times:
Tuesdays, 10am-2pm
Thursdays, 10am-2pm
Tom Hollick (President) and Jeni Marie-Pittuck (Deputy President) will be available at these times in room SAH2-01.

Travel grants for educational trips abroad |

Are you planning an educational trip abroad? Have you applied for a travel grant?
The Sir Philip Reckitt Educational Trust had another successful year in 2011 and during the year the Trustees received a record number of applications. The majority of those who applied received an award and many of these were individuals studying at either Universities or Colleges in Norfolk.

Sports therapy students take their skills to the Continent |
|
Trainee sports therapists from City College Norwich will practise their skills even further afield in 2012, thanks to the acquisition of new 7.5 tonne truck which will transport the College’s Extreme Sports Therapy Unit to events as far away as Spain.
The impressive new Renault truck, which is fully liveried in the Extreme Sports Therapy Unit’s colours, will enable the Level 3 Diploma in the Prevention and Management of Sports Injuries students to take their equipment to new events at home and abroad.
