Students from City College Norwich are holding an art and crafts sale this week to raise funds for special end of year activities. The sale features art, photography, sculpture, jewellery and other crafts produced by students in the School of Foundation Studies.
The sale is taking place in Castle Mall, in a unit next to Argos, from Friday 25th to Wednesday 30th June (10am-3pm daily, except Sunday). The sale is one example of a range of enterprise activities that Foundation Studies students are involved in throughout the year, including sales of organic fruit and vegetables, plants, cakes, cards and crafts and car washing services.
Fundraising through events like these enables the students, together with their tutors, to organise day trips and other activities that are tailored to the interests and abilities of the students. These activities are designed to be fun for the students, whilst helping to build their independence and confidence and to broaden their horizons.
Kim Voisey, Lecturer in the School of Foundation Studies said: “This art and crafts show and sale is a fantastic opportunity for the students to present their work to the public. The students have worked extremely hard to put on this sale and have produced some amazing work which I am sure will be popular with the public.”
The School of Foundation Studies provides courses for students with a wide range of abilities, including students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities who may require additional support to help them to progress in their learning and prepare for employment.
