Cutting edge styles at Diffusion hair show
A creative mix of stunning, contemporary hair creations, taking their inspiration from Lady Gaga, burlesque, candy and masquerade themes, went on show this week at the Diffusion hair show at City College Norwich.
The catwalk show, which was held in The StartUp Lounge, showcased the work of 23 students on hairdressing NVQ and VRQ courses at the College.
Diffusion enabled students to show their individually created styles and to experience what it is like to work in an artistic team for a catwalk show, with the results forming part of the assessment for their course.
As well as working hard to get their hair creations just right, the students were responsible for putting together all aspects of the looks created – from customising outfits for their models to overseeing the make-up students to complete the desired effects.
The event was organised by hairdressing apprentices Lauren Wicks and Jessica Cook who work in the Solutions hair salon at the College. Jessica said:
“The event went brilliantly, it was really nerve-wracking to begin with, but it all came together and was really good. This experience has really boosted our confidence and we really enjoyed being a part of it.”
Steve Thorpe, Head of the Hotel, Hair and Beauty School at City College Norwich, said:
“The Diffusion hair show provided an opportunity for our students to bring the skills they have developed on their course to a wider audience. The experience of putting together the styles for the show, collaborating with others, and executing their styles on the night, will stand the students in great stead as they develop towards becoming senior stylists.”
