Students at City College Norwich Sixth Form Centre are celebrating yet another year of success today with excellent results in both AS and A Level courses.
The College received an A level pass rate of 97% surpassing the previous years pass rate by 2%. AS Level results also showed an impressive 2% rise. Overall, 16 courses at A Level recorded a 100% pass rate in subjects as varied as Business Studies, Chemistry, Drama and Geography.
As well as excellent pass rates, many courses saw students achieving the highest grades. 75% of Chemistry students, 70% of Mathematics students and 50% of Textiles students achieved grades A or B at A Level this year.
Results in courses in the Arts were particularly impressive again with many students achieving the highest grades in Photography, Textiles and Film Studies. Head of Media and Film, Guy Parkinson, said: “These great results are founded on the number of shows and performances students’ stage throughout the year the A Level Media and Film showcase in May at the Forum was a great success. These exhibitions give students a real focus, they know they will be exhibiting their work to the public and this gives them the motivation to improve.
Lucy-Ann Huskisson, 18, from Bungay, achieved A grades in Photography, Media Studies and English. “I am amazingly excited” she said. “I didn’t really expect to get all A’s, I’m going to Roehampton University to study Journalism, News Media and Photography and it’s close to London, which I love.
The achievement of record A-Level results by City College Norwich students, for the third year running, highlights the growing strength of its Sixth Form Centre. Over 20 subjects are on offer in a variety of areas and the College supports students from a wide range of backgrounds to fulfill their potential.
